Fertility Gallery: Cervical Mucus Pictures
I think the greatest mystery in the world of fertility awareness for women is interpreting their cervical mucus patterns. Some aren't even sure how to check it or know what to look for. In an effort to make cervical mucus monitoring more clearly understood and practiced, I'm going to start posting pictures of cervical mucus at different times of the month. I welcome the pictures of any other women who would like to help others know what cervical mucus looks like. Please send your pictures to bondedfrombirth@gmail.com . Thanks!
Infertile Cervical Mucus --- Also called "Sticky"
After your "dry" days (clean finger with nothing on it) are past, you will start to produce cervical mucus. Some women's infertile cervical mucus is more rubbery and yellow-like in color. Mine is more filmy, like the beginning of cream. Either way, there isn't much of it and it doesn't feel wet.
Transitional Cervical Mucus --- Also called "Creamy"
When mucus is "creamy", you see a lot of white stuff. It almost looks like lotion or if it is wet, it looks like milk. In the picture below, the mucus is actually starting to change into "fertile" consistency because it's beginning to stretch. True creamy mucus does not stretch between your fingers. It's just gooey like yogurt.
Fertile Cervical Mucus --- Also called "Egg White"
Notice when the mucus is fertile, there is no more white creamy stuff. It's also super slippery and slimy! The mucus is almost clear, streaked with flecks of white, or opaque. Depending on how wet one is, it can appear really fluid or just like stretchy, slimy string.
How to Check Your Cervical Mucus
The easiest way I have found to get a good sample of cervical mucus is just by inserting a clean finger in the vagina, swiping around pretty good, and pulling out the finger to see what's there. I usually do this at the end of my shower, while squatting. If I sense that it's really wet in there and I don't pull out anything, I know the fertile stuff just slid off my finger. Sometimes I have to insert up to 3 times to catch that stuff so I can see it. During your infertile time, you should only need to insert once to get a good sample. I check my cervical mucus once a day.
