You Are Special to God
You Are NOT a Mistake or an Accident
A Bible Study, By Inga Walden
In the Bible, we discover that each person born into this world is not a mistake or an accident, but a very special child of God. Pray before you begin this study and ask our heavenly Father to help you understand and internalize these special promises contained in this Bible study. As you read, look for the answer to each question within the verse(s) provided. All scriptures are taken from the New King James version, www.biblegateway.com.
1. With what kind of love has God loved you?
Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”
2. Since when has God known you and had a purpose for your life?
Jeremiah 1:5 (God speaking to Jeremiah)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
Psalm 139:15, 16 (the Psalmist speaking to God)
My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
3. What kinds of thoughts does God have for your life?
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Psalm 139:17, 18
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.
4. For what purpose did God create you?
Isaiah 43:7 (God speaking)
Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.
Isaiah 43:21 (God speaking)
This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.
5. How many people does God want to perish in their sins?
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
6. What is the greatest demonstration of love for another person?
John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
7. Did God demonstrate the greatest love for us only when we were “good”?
Romans 5:6-8
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
8. Therefore, did God give up Jesus to die to cause Himself to love us, or did He give up His Son because He loved us?
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
9. Whom does God love as much as He loves His Son?
John 17:23 (Jesus speaking to His Father of His disciples)
I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
10. How well does God know you?
Psalm 139:1-6
O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.
11. Can we ever hide from God?
Psalm 139:7-12 (the Psalmist speaking to God)
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fallon me,” Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.
Hebrews 4:13
And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
12. Where is He when we pass through trials that seem like flood waters and fire?
Isaiah 43:2 (God speaking to you)
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.
13a. How does God feel when His children are afflicted with trials, pain, and grief?
Isaiah 63:9
In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.
13b. In fact, what did Jesus do with our grief and sorrows?
Isaiah 53:4
Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
14. How long does God stay close to us to carry us through life’s experiences?

Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, Who have been upheld by Me from birth, Who have been carried from the womb: Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.
15. What does God do with the evil that others mean to do to us?
Genesis 50:20 (Joseph speaking to his brothers who betrayed him)
But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
16a. How many things that happen to us can God redeem for our good?
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
16b. How many ugly things in life can God turn around and make beautiful?
Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
An Inspired Thought for Meditation
Keep your wants, your joys, your sorrows, your cares, and your fears before God. You cannot burden Him; you cannot weary Him. He who numbers the hairs of your head is not indifferent to the wants of His children. "The Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." James 5:11. His heart of love is touched by our sorrows and even by our utterances of them. Take to Him everything that perplexes the mind. Nothing is too great for Him to bear, for He holds up worlds, He rules over all the affairs of the universe. Nothing that in any way concerns our peace is too small for Him to notice. There is no chapter in our experience too dark for Him to read; there is no perplexity too difficult for Him to unravel. No calamity can befall the least of His children, no anxiety harass the soul, no joy cheer, no sincere prayer escape the lips, of which our heavenly Father is unobservant, or in which He takes no immediate interest. "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." Psalm 147:3. The relations between God and each soul are as distinct and full as though there were not another soul upon the earth to share His watchcare, not another soul for whom He gave His beloved Son.
